What to put on a fresher resume
Recruiters hiring freshers know you have little or no full-time experience. They look for evidence that you can learn, finish work, and use the skills the role needs. Put your strongest evidence near the top.
- Contact details: name, phone, professional email, city, and your LinkedIn profile if you have one.
- Summary: two or three lines on the role you want and what you bring. See resume summary examples.
- Education: degree, college, years, and your score if it is strong. Add relevant coursework for technical roles.
- Projects: the most important section for many freshers. Name the project, the tools you used, and what it achieved.
- Internships: add them under Experience; even short ones count. Describe the work, not just the company name.
- Skills: tools and technologies you have actually used. Read skills for your resume.
- Certifications and achievements: courses, hackathons, competitions, and positions of responsibility.
Turn projects into experience
Write each project the way you would write a job: start with an action verb, say what you built, and finish with a result someone can picture.
Before: Made a library management system in Java.
After: Built a library management system in Java and MySQL for 500+ books, with search and due-date reminders used by our department library.
Tip: Only use numbers you can explain in an interview. A small, true number is better than a big, vague one.
Common fresher resume mistakes
- Going over one page. A fresher resume should fit on a single page.
- Listing hobbies and personal details such as date of birth or father's name instead of projects.
- Copying the same objective statement as everyone else. Write two specific lines instead.
- Using a heavily designed layout with tables and graphics that applicant tracking systems cannot read.
- Sending one resume to every company. Adjust the summary and skills for each role; see tailoring your resume.

Frequently asked questions
How long should a fresher resume be?
One page. Recruiters scan fresher resumes quickly, and one well-organised page is easier to read than two thin ones.
Should a fresher resume have an objective or a summary?
A short summary works better than a generic objective. In two or three lines, name the role you want and the skills or projects that make you a fit.
Should I include my CGPA or percentage?
Include it if it is strong or if the employer asks for it. Many campus placement processes have cut-offs, so leaving it out can raise questions.
Is it really free?
Yes. Building and editing are free, and the Standard template downloads as a free PDF. Premium templates are a one-time payment per template and include PDF and Word downloads. There is no subscription.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Start writing straight away; your draft is saved in your browser. If you buy a premium download, we create your account and email you a sign-in link so your resume is saved.
